Abstract: 
In this work, an analysis of the mathematical aspects of
capillary rise is considered. Derivation of the governing equation from
fundamental continuum mechanics equations is provided. Moreover,
alternative initial conditions are suggested and it is proved that there
exists a unique solution. Additionally, the stationary point is determined
and it is shown that the stationary state can be either monotonically or
oscillatory approached, which is verified by numerical analysis. Our model
is compared with available experimental data and the results are observed
to be in good agreement.
