Abstract:
The operations of large moving systems are often compromised under high-speed and heavy duty conditions owing to the fatigue deterioration caused by surface flaws. In this context, the present research examines a novel computational model to explore the stability of stress raisers such as quarter-elliptical cracks and semi-elliptical cracks. The influences of crack-tip interactions and stress ratio effects on driving mode progression are analyzed through a damage tolerance-based analytical strategy.
