Abstract:
The Collective Awareness Platforms for Sustainability and Social Innovation (CAPS) are ICT platforms for crowdsourcing in different fields of human life (energy, sustainable environment, health, transportation, social life, etc.). These platforms are based on online social media, distributed knowledge creation and real environment data with the aim to raise awareness of problems among users and mobilize them in finding solutions through collective efforts. In this paper we provide survey of the CAPs in the area of energy efficiency. We present the concept and basic features of CAPs and models of motivation of users for participation. The paper is focused on the analysis of relevant tools based on CAPs in energy efficiency. In specific, we present the main issues and challenges for their implementation as well as expected development direction in the future.
